I had another attorney at the time and not only was my case sitting with no action for over a year but this attorney, who was "paid" to take my case, stopped responding and his office would reply days after a request or inquiry was made . Once I hired Mr Scott F Kotler and his team, they got to work immediately and my case was resolved within a 3 month period after he took over with a favorable outcome. His prices are fair but his knowledge, expertise and professionalism are like no other in the business. He provided great advise, direction and was well connected within his community. Where should I start? I almost fell off the bed when I received a phone call at 9:00PM EST from the Miami Jail from a “very kind” officer informing me that on New Year’s weekend my “smart” kid was arrested at the airport, was at the jail discussing the stock market, however needed to be bailed out! My response “sure right this is a joke right, why is he in Miami, he usually celebrates New Year’s Rock-N-Eve in New York” and where are his stock market computers and his electronics? Never mind I said, I can ask him; I was on my way out of town, was my response, but let me think about this! I initially thought you know what just leave him there, then after I got over the shock, I called Attorney Kotler’s number, Attorney Kotler advised and I quote “I am on vacation in California, but hang tight DON’T PANIC”! Do you have the arrest number and what is your Son’s name, I believe is what he asked (I was still in shock) Good God my first time going through any jail issues and I thought that my Son was going to have to spend New Year’s in jail. I asked Attorney Kotler if I should just leave my Son in jail (I was joking after the shocking phone call from the officer at the jail) Very funny Mom was his response. He immediately advised on what to do PRIOR to even retaining his services, I bonded my Son out and then met the most incredible Ms. Jennifer who is Attorney Kotler’s paralegal. I retained his services and he represented my Son in court to ask the state to drop the charges. This review isn’t just about Attorney Kotler being a LAWYER! This is about him being a HUMAN first and understanding the stress that something surprising like this can cause on a single parent with a disability, but even more importantly understanding that even smart kids especially when they have a high intelligence can still have run ins with Law Enforcement. Let me add how grateful I am that Attorney Kotler took the case, represented my Son well and allowed me to be on the sidelines w/my Son’s permission in case he needed further assistance from me other than simply retaining his services. There is no amount of money that I could pay him to keep the STRESS off of me and fighting for my Son. I offered him a thank you gift, lunch money, dinner money, but he said no that he was happy to be of service when we needed him. I discussed with my Son the possibility of residing in Miami because who would not want to be near their Amazing Attorney. Now about Ms. Jennifer, there is no possible way in my opinion that Attorney Kotler could do and be all that he is without an “AMAZING & INCREDIBLE” assistant such as Ms. Jennifer! I would like to start by saying that this man really earns his reviews. Although my case may I have seemed minor to others, this was my first time dealing with a criminal matter. Scott Kotler represented me in my bogus civil domestic violence case, which also had a related criminal case (dropped) and divorce case. I contacted every domestic violence lawyer in Miami. Except for Scott, they were all slow - in every way - and they showed minimal warmth, friendliness, or interest in my case. I emailed Scott's website on a Sunday morning and he immediately got back to me while in the middle of shopping. We had a proper phone consultation later that day and he immediately wanted to dig into my case and get up to speed on everything. He was officially hired days later. What should have been a simple TRO case quickly turned into a drawn-out 3-month ordeal as other lawyers became involved and my battle was being fought in multiple jurisdictions. Out of my team of three lawyers, I will say Scott Kotler had the most unbeatable communication. He always got back to me very quickly, even at night and on weekends (I don't know how he does that). He checked-in and kept in touch during the long periods between hearings. And stayed up-to-date on the activities in my other cases. Scott integrated seamlessly into my legal team, naturally taking on a leadership role and working collaboratively with my other lawyers in carefully navigating through this overall mess In the end, it was in the interests of both parties to settle the issue privately. I did not get the epic Hollywood victory I fantasized about - but I did substantially improve my position in this long fight, while the other side was forced give up substantial ground. Scott won the negotiation ultimately because we were more prepared and willing to go into a hearing. I much better off now. I caught a case trying to remove a squatter. My friend Omar referred me to Scott. It wasn't until I saw Scott in action at court that we realized how extremely knowledgeable he was to all the laws pertaining to the case. His level of expertise smacked the other attorney in the face. He had my restraining order case dismissed. The victim showed up to court with makeup like a panda, she tried to exaggerate. She even tried to put a witness that was not present, on the stand. She put her 94+ elderly mom (through misery) on the stand and Scott went straight to the point cutting out all the bs. Scott is really an amazing and caring attorney. He knew how to navigate and handle every aspect of my case, the curveballs and tricks the prosecution was throwing at me, the bullying from the prosecution, all the manipulation from the other side, throughout it all he defended me and we came out on top and one of the charges was dropped and we had the best possible outcome on the other one. He also calmed me down and reassured me that my future was going to be intact and that he was not going to let them beat us. Since the first day I was given a misdemeanor from an officer, I knew the first thing to do was call Scott. He handled my fathers cases and now the only person I knew that would be able to defend my case was Scott himself. Scott went to bat for me at every court appearance of mine. He was exactly the type of attorney that I needed: a straight shooter. Was up front and very clear about what to expect from the entire process. But what made Scott and his assistant Jennifer stand above the other attorneys I have used In the lay was the way they both cared and the way they treated me like family. Scott had to make many court appearances for me for not just the initial charges, and then worked with me after I violated my probation and told me what I needed to hear. He was able to get me into a rehabilitation center through the judge and the courts, which I needed more than I was willing to admit. However he didn’t beat around the bush and he let me know I did need to make changes in my life and I had to put the work in myself as well. There was a point when I realized that he cared for my well being as a also became my friend during the entire process of me getting my life back on track and wasn’t afraid to call a spade a spade. Since then I followed his advice as well as started to take my life more serious as to what I was gonna to have to do to get the results he was fighting for me to get. He got me off of probation early as well as helped me get off of probation almost two years early because I followed his legal advice and started to see that he did care for me and my well being. I was referred to Mr. Kotler by his brother David, who is also an attorney but in Boca Raton, Florida. My son was arrested for possession of marijuana in Miami-Dade while having one prior case pending in another county. Mr. Kotler did a wonderful job on his new case.
